HKYSL U8 FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Vikings were handed a tough group in today’s tournament coming up against Lee Man and KCFC.
Vikings started sloppy in there opener against Lee Man with a poor defensive error and found themselves 1-0 within 2 minutes. However they bounced back very quickly with a great 1/2 move between Aaron STEWART and Jack BAILEY, seeing STEWART slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. Again it seemed to be one of those dates with another defensive error which led to another Lee Man goal. Vikings started to gather some momentum in the game and finally got there equaliser with Kabir MEHTA getting on the score sheet. Vikings were well and truly in control before Lee Man scored again and it was a well worked goal however the defending should of been better. Vikings continued to probe and a great free kick from Aaron STEWART hitting the post late on the game saw Vikings coming really close, however a disappointing 3-2 loss in there opening game.
Next game for Vikings agains KCFC was another tough game, which ended in a draw, with Vikings failing to take there chances, Aaron STEWART notched again with a clinical finish, however Vikings were disappointed not to get the 3 points,
Final group again against Taipo saw Vikings winning 3-0, a goal from Jack BAILEY, slotting it home past the goal keeper saw Vikings getting off to a good start, followed by a brace from Aaron STEWART capping off 3rd place finish in the group by 1 point, Vikings were disappointed with the overall result of the group as they knew they could of took there chances against KCFC and should of topped the group.
Into the plate competition Vikings will go, and the boys did well in the Quarter finals and Semi Finals winning both games comfortably and putting on 2 good solid performances to reach the final.
Vikings were up against Tuen Mun in the final, without knowing to much about the opponent Vikings started the game on the front foot early on and scoring the opener with Aaron STEWART smashing the ball past the goal keeper with a great strike. Vikings made it 2-0 in quick succession with a lovely team goal starting from the back and ending up with a lovely ball from Aaron STEWART to Jack BAILEY who smashed it past the goal keeper with a lovely 1 touch finish. Vikings went on to win the game 4-0 with STEWART notching a brace and Kabir MEHTA slotting home a lovely left foot finish past the goalkeeper.
Debuts for Shota NAKANO and Joshua KING, who both performed very well when coming off the bench and putting in a good shift for the team. Number 1 Goalkeeper Cadam HENZELL, having a good solid performance throughout the day alongside William LIU who played out of position today as a defender.
The plate winners for the 2nd time this season and the boys hope to go one better next time.
